The American International School of Lagos has established high curriculum standards and learning outcomes in all major content areas. Math, literacy, science and social studies were developed during the 1997-98 school year. Computer technology, Fine Arts, French, Library, Nigerian Studies, and Physical Education/Health were addressed during the 1998-99 school year. This ambitious project was a result of direction set by the Board and Administration to improve student achievement and ensure that a rigorous curriculum was in place to meet the needs and challenges of an international student body.

The mission of the American International School of Lagos is to deliver a quality American education to its diverse students in a nurturing environment which inspires a passion for learning, fosters a sense of wonder and curiosity, and teaches responsible citizenship through a partnership among school, home, and community.
